As of now, we do not have additional weekly discussion questions past week 5. After Chapter 1, things should be a little easier.
We do, however, have a general structure to get discussion topics for the meeting that you can use below. As a facilitator, feel free to follow the basic structure below or modify it:
- As you prepare for facilitating, note some passages of your own that you’d like to discuss.
- At the beginning of the meeting, go around the group and ask each person to note passages, ideas or similar that they would like to review. This could be things that people found confusing, that they really liked, or that they just found interesting in some way.
- If people aren’t sure what to say, you can ask what passages they highlighted, put question marks by, or have notes by. Its fine (good in fact) if multiple people pick the same passage.
- Some people might fall behind on reading and thus won’t have something to discuss. There’s no shame in that. If they are behind for a couple sessions, they should just skip ahead to stay with the group.
- Then for the rest of the meeting go through each of passages/ideas/etc. one by one, starting with the passages that appear first in the chapter and moving through them until you get to the end.
The idea here is to make sure you get a good survey of what the group wants to discuss first. Then, you go through all the topics in the rough order of the chapter.
